Malampaya

Malampaya Sound is one of Taytay's most remarkable natural attractions and a protected landscape and seascape. It is particularly famous for the Irrawaddy dolphin (Orcaella brevirostris), a critically endangered species found in the inner part of the Sound. Bottlenose dolphins have also been documented in the area.

Beyond dolphin watching, Malampaya offers a beautiful combination of mangrove forests, beaches, seagrass beds, coral reefs, and tranquil coastal scenery, making it an excellent destination for nature and eco-adventure.

Best Time to Visit

November to May is generally a good period for outdoor activities in Taytay, but dolphin watching is especially dependent on actual weather, sea conditions and dolphin behavior.

For dolphin watching, early morning—around sunrise—is the preferred time, as dolphins are known to forage during the morning.

Interestingly, Taytay's coastal-resource survey recorded the highest number of cetacean sightings during May and June in its surveyed data, although sightings can occur throughout the year.
